La Capilla is a restaurant that exists, quite happily, in a number of overlapping worlds. On the one hand, it’s home to retro Mexican cooking, the sort of food that always arrives in “Combinations” as ornate as anything you’ll find in a one-from-Column-A/two-from-Column-B Chinese eatery. The combinations at La Capilla sit at the center of the menu, the first of which bears the wonderfully Zen title “Combination of One” - a “combination” of rice and beans, tortilla soup or salad, with either an enchilada, a taco, a chile relleno or a tamale.
